There is a very noisy bird here that I can't place so have been trawling youtube for hints (it was none of those, it kind of sounds like a ring-necked parakeet but isn't). Heard a bunch of pheasants arguing last night which was a surpise given their general stupidity, unsuitablility for our winters and propensity for getting shot and run over. Good luck to them.

I spent a lot of time in a house on Liddington Road around about 91/92.
Used to frequent a boozer on Portway just round the corner that was habitually busy with Oirish types who cheated on the pool table in a game of killer as if their kids' lives depended on it.
Played a.couple.of matches for that pub in a pool league.
Can't for the life of me recall the boozer's name.

Not being able to walk to the ground from a decent boozer (not packed to the rafters and ideally showing the early kick off is pretty much all I ask) is right up there among the worst things about moving to the Shithole

Strodders
The Canteen was just in Vicarage Lane off the Port way near West Ham church. The Toby Tavern was further down the Portway near West Ham Park. Good pubs like you say. The Britiania was also close by.

I recall visiting The Canteen & Toby tavern after a few games in the early 90s both good pubs although cant quite remember where they were situated,
Also the Greyhound & Railway as well as the Black lion.
Now only go to Tap East pre game & stop off at Farringdon or King's Cross on the way home.

Italia 90, Ireland vs Italy, got to the Phantom at about 5ish, was on the Dogbolter all night, left at closing time, couldn't get a cab and had to walk pissed out of my head back to Redbridge, took me 3 hours!!
